I’m beyond excited to have the incredible Lily Van Driessche as my Woman Crush Wednesday feature today. This is a woman who has achieved such an astonishing mind, body, soul and spirit transformation over the last year that it was absolutely amazing to watch her becoming a New Lily! We were so proud and honored to coach her through her journey.
I invited Lily to share her wisdom with us today and here is her incredible story.
Why did you begin your journey?
I was looking for something to hold me accountable, consistent and committed. I have never been a tiny person growing up but I always tried and wanted to. I was very good at giving up. Then I saw a great friend achieving amazing success with Sexyfit and I wanted to try it.
Sexyfit was both what I expected and what I did not expect. I was definitely surprised by the amazing community and the impact it made on daily basis.
What are your biggest wins on your journey?
My biggest win was also a surprise for me. I had a physical transformation off course, but the mental transformation was what surprised me and what I’ve been most proud of. I’m a completely different person now and I refer to myself as the New Lily. Now I laugh about the things that Old Lily did.
I was dealing with anxiety and depression and I was on medication. Over the year, I gave up all my medication. I’m happier and more carefree than I’ve ever been in my life. I love myself enough to go to the gym, hit my macros, stick to my workout program and be involved in the community. I’ve realized I’m doing all that for myself, that loving yourself is not selfish, and that’s a total mind shift. I’ve come a long way and I’m proud of that.
What advice would you give to Old Lily?
A huge thing I would tell Old Lily would be to listen to yourself. I let myself get in the mindset of listening to somebody else telling me what would be good for me. Love yourself enough to change. If you don’t like where you are then move, you are not a tree. Old Lily thought she was a tree until she realized she could get up and try something new. Stand up for yourself and don’t be afraid to try new things. You have to give yourself enough credit that you can do anything.
What would be your tip for somebody who is just starting their journey or thinking about joining the Sexyback Mastermind?
I would suggest setting a goal. You guys challenged us to pick something that was out of our comfort zone. I picked running half-marathon. When I started running I figured out how much I enjoyed it. My goal was something to look forward to. I’m proud of working up to my goal.
Believe in yourself. If there is something you’ve always wanted to do, challenge yourself. Set that goal that you are afraid of setting and go for it. Find people that you can have in your corner, who can support you in your goal.
And guess what? Lily finished her first half-marathon this Saturday!!! I’m so excited for everything she has achieved, for how she has flourished and started showing up for herself.
