My guest today is our amazing Sexyfit sister Morgan Gillespie, a busy single mom of two kids, who has an incredible story of losing 100 pounds! We wanted to share the journey of a women who has lost quite a lot of weight and what she is doing now because the journey never really stops.
Why did you start this journey and why did you join Sexyfit?
My fitness journey started after my marriage ended. I held a lot of emotions and anger, so I decided to put all those emotions into working out. I wanted to be a good role model for my children. I joined a gym, started doing a lot of cardio, started tracking calories and when I saw the results, I was hooked. I ran my first 5k, and when a year came around I lost about 100 pounds.
That’s when I reached out to Zlata. I wanted to make this a permanent change and didn’t want to go back. I figured out cardio and counting calories, but I was down to eating 1000 calories a day and I couldn’t live like that. I needed a lifestyle change, I wanted expert advice from someone who knows what they are doing. I needed a plan.
What has changed in what you were doing?
I’ve started doing weight training and now I have a lot of confidence in the gym. I’m not using machines. I can do all the workouts at home because sometimes I don’t have time to go to the gym.
I’ve also started counting macros, eating more calories and proteins, and I’m meal prepping which makes me feel good around my kids. Counting macros was overwhelming at first, but when you get into the routine, it becomes easy to replace your meals and do it on the go.
What would you tell to your old self and what is your advice for someone who is just starting on this journey?
I would definitely tell my old self that you are beautiful no matter what size you are. And after going through this journey and putting in the effort, you tend to love yourself more for that. The struggle is the beauty because you are finding yourself that way. I would tell myself that you can do it, you are going to do it and you are going to thank yourself.
My advice to someone who is starting on this journey would be to start with small things. Look at how much water you drink during a day and try drinking more. Try replacing coffee with tea. Instead of pasta, get chicken with brown rice. If you want a dessert, share it with someone. You can still go out with friends and not feel deprived.
