The star of our #TransformationTuesday is one strong, smart woman.
Izabela moved to the US from Poland 5 years ago. She was a cardiopulmonary scientist and worked at Boston Medical School and Harvard Medical School, and her busy schedule didn’t leave her much time to take care of herself. She was diagnosed with PCOS at 19 and started hormonal treatment at age 21, and that is when her weight started going up and down – she went down to being anorexic and then went back up to 170 pounds with a high body fat percentage. Fighting her weight has always been a big struggle, especially because in Poland, where Izabela still has a lot of friends from childhood, being overweight is almost a crime. Girls are skinny, no matter what it takes to get there. The stereotypes are very strong there, and if you are not like the rest, you are not accepted. Her boyfriend, and then husband, also always saw her as a “big” girl, and that decreased her spirits even more. She was constantly discouraged and disappointed at herself.
Once she moved to NM, she realized that she spends half of her life in a car and it scared her – she was afraid that if she continues to eat the foods she liked (fast food, milkshakes and ice-cream were on the list), she will become fat. That’s when she made the decision to join a gym and get a personal trainer, who changed the way she looked at gyms.
She discovered a new Izabela, who was strong, motivated and inspiring to others. Soon she decided to compete in a figure show.
After competing in her first show and getting advice from her then nutritionist that she needed to start taking testosterone and estrogen blockers in order to grow more muscle, she knew that it wasn’t a right path for her. In her search for a solution, she found Zlata and Sexyfit, registered for a webinar and right away she knew that the solution was found. In Izabela’s words: “Zlata knew what she was talking about (Professionalism. Remember, I am a biologist so I know biology, physiology and anatomy) and second, she was honest, straightforward and authentic. .. values I admire because I am the same way…”
Together we were able to come up with a sustainable eating and exercising plan that did not involve harsh supplements. Her plan was very different from a typical “competitor diet” where you eat the same thing over and over. Her new plan did not leave Izabela starving or feeling guilty when she ate something not necessarily “clean”. She was able to put on muscle, while keeping her body fat percentage down, which is the #1 goal for a woman who is planning to compete again in the future. What Izabela was able to accomplish is very tough to do in the competition mindset because there tends to be a lot of “in season” or “off season” types of thinking. She overcame her fear of food that was “off” the meal plan and learned how to use the macro nutrient lifestyle diet to her advantage in any situation. I am so incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication to her new sexyfit lifestyle, allowing her both flexibility and results.
She is such an inspiration!

What made you decide to join Sexyfit? I wanted to get my health in balance and regain my happiness after 2 shows when I completely lost the control over my body.
What do you like most about Sexyfit approach to nutrition, fitness and accountability? There is a very flexible way of eating – anything that fits your macros. From all the webinars, secret groups, videos and posts Zlata is using to communicate with us including personal calls, it is so easy to learn a healthy eating style and balanced way of exercising. For me, the accountability and support system I received was the greatest advantage, and that helped my mind get set back onto a healthy track 🙂
In your journey, what are you most proud of? I overcame the major issues of not believing in myself, not loving myself, not being proud of myself. Fitness and dieting was not an issue, everyone can do it – but having a clear mind is a bit harder. Achieving a balanced mindset, self-awareness and emotional presence were the most important aspects from my experience which resulted in my increased self-confidence – and that’s the greatest gift ever 🙂
What are your words of wisdom to someone who is just starting their journey? Everything starts slowly, but with time it will start picking up speed. You become amazed at how your body and mind shift towards positivity and happiness. With that confident mindset, you are a winner. You can achieve whatever you dream. By staying consistent and making small steps every day, you learn to appreciate yourself and the people around you every day 🙂
What is your favorite inspirational quote? If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a Leader.
